Privacy Policy for Songbook
Last updated: May 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Songbook ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. Songbook is developed by John Harold Rasco.
We designed Songbook to collect as little as possible. There is no sign-up, no email, and no personal account.
Information we collect
Information stored only on your device
- Selected karaoke machine. Your machine choice is saved in your device's local settings so the app remembers it between launches.
- Favorited songs. When you favorite a song, the favorite is stored in a local database on your device.
This information never leaves your device unless described below.
Information sent to our servers (Google Firebase)
When you favorite a song, the app sends the following to our backend so we can power the community Top 100 list:
- An anonymous user ID generated by Firebase Authentication. This ID is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any personal information.
- The song's title, artist, song number, volume, and the karaoke machine model.
- A timestamp.
We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
- Your precise or approximate location
- Photos, contacts, microphone, or camera data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- Any data used for tracking across apps or websites
How we use the information
The information we collect is used solely to:
- Provide app functionality (saving your favorites and remembering your machine)
- Aggregate anonymous favorite counts for the community Top 100 list
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use the information for advertising.
Third-party services
Songbook uses Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore) to store anonymous favorite records. Firebase is provided by Google LLC and is governed by Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Data retention
- Local data on your device persists until you delete or uninstall the app.
- Favorite records on our backend are retained as long as the app is in service. Because favorites are tied only to an anonymous Firebase user ID, we have no way to identify or contact you.
Your choices
- Stop sharing favorites. Uninstalling the app stops any further data from being sent. Existing anonymous records cannot be linked back to you.
- Delete favorites. Unfavoriting a song removes the corresponding record from your device and decrements the community count on our backend.
Children's privacy
Songbook is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
